A Thoughtful Discussion on Emotive Design, Experience & AI
On May 31, 2025, designers from around the world came together to celebrate World Interiors Day. The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) started this event.
This year’s theme, “Emotive Design, Experience & AI,” started important talks. It focused on how technology changes interior design. It helps create meaningful human experiences.
At Sara Interior, we marked this special occasion with an intimate in-house dialogue centered entirely on the theme. Our team came together to explore how emotional response, user experience, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the way we imagine. They are also changing how we design and interact with interior spaces.

🧠Understanding Emotive Design in Interior
The discussion began by unpacking the essence of emotive design—an approach that considers how a space makes people feel. Our designers shared examples ranging from calming bedrooms to energizing workspace. They showed how materials, lighting, layout, and color psychology contribute to emotional well-being. We thought about how design is not just about purpose or style. It is also about creating spaces that connect with people on a deeper level.

🎯 Experience at the Heart of Design
We also delved into the concept of experiential interiors—designs that focus on sensory and emotional engagement. We discussed how design choices can shape memories, behaviors, and connections. This can happen in a cozy cafe, a calm spa, or a modern office. Experience, we agreed, is what turns space into place.

🤖 The Role of AI in Interior Design
The final part of our session focused on artificial intelligence in design. We debated the possibilities and limitations of AI tools in supporting the design process—from generating mood boards to optimizing layouts. A key question emerged:
“Can AI help us design spaces that feel human, without losing the emotional nuance that only people bring?”
We concluded that AI can enhance efficiency and visualization. Yet, the heart of design—its empathy, creativity, and emotional intelligence—must stay human-led.

📝 A Meaningful Exchange
Though simple in format, the discussion was rich in ideas. Celebrating World Interiors Day in this thoughtful way helped us reconnect with our values. We design not just for purpose, but also for feeling.
The boundaries between technology and creativity continue to blur. We stay committed to designing interiors that inspire. Our designs comfort and connect.
