In 2021, we had the privilege of designing a 2,150 SFT rooftop garden for Mr. Kazi Habib at his residence in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka. As green spaces in the city become scarce, rooftop gardens are emerging as a practical and attractive way to add nature to urban living. They provide beauty, promote relaxation, and support sustainable lifestyles. To achieve these benefits, a well-planned exterior design is essential.
Our goal was to create a space that blends nature with modern city life. We designed this rooftop garden to serve three main purposes:
By selecting a variety of greenery — from fruit trees and vegetables to flowering shrubs and herbs — we transformed an unused rooftop into a vibrant, living space.
To make the garden both beautiful and functional, we combined paving, wooden decking, and raised planters. These features helped define different areas while maintaining a cohesive look. Comfortable seating areas encourage daily use, whether for enjoying morning tea, reading, or hosting guests.
We chose lightweight, weather-resistant materials to ensure durability without compromising style. This thoughtful material selection also made maintenance easier for the client.
